This is the aftermath of what we did today. Oh yes, it’s that time of year. Next week, we will have our meeting at the school. The kids will present their portfolios, and we’ll talk about what we did this year.
And, as can be expected from my children, Zahra was thrilled to get to work on her portfolio, Noah was complaining most of the time, and Leila had other ideas for the tape. Sigh. It wasn’t exactly that cheery trip down Memory Lane that I was hoping for. More of a, “Careful! Don’t knock those off the table. Here’s the tape. Here’s the tape. Here’s the tape,” kind of an afternoon. Plus one meltdown so out-of-this-world that the kid put herself for a nap afterwards.
On the plus side, the chicks were especially adorable and there was an extra cup of coffee just waiting to be reheated. It’s the little things.
I’m still undecided as to whether or not we’ll continue homeschooling through the summer. In any case, it would be a lighter load; but I like the idea of doing a little bit of math and a little bit of writing every day, just to keep us in a rhythm. On the other hand, summer is made for giving yourself a break from that rhythm, and it would be nice to just not have anything on the to-do list. I guess we’ll wait and see how the portfolio meeting goes to decide if we need to continue through the summer or not. Haha!
